What is Mindful Leadership
Mindful Leadership is a program designed to enhance personal insight and performance, by adopting mindfulness techniques such as:
- Identifying and letting go of psychological patterns that inhibit performance
- Understanding values and their motives, and using them as the basis for leadership action
- Being fully present in the moment
- Being accepting of self, others and circumstances as a process of learning rather than responding to emotional patterns
- Responding clearly, purposefully and effectively
- Committing to personal development goals and taking effective action
- Maintaining ongoing self awareness and presence
How Has It Been Developed?
Mindful Leadership is based on Dr John Wood’s 30 years corporate experience in the field of leadership development, extensive research and study of leadership success, and personal change and transformation techniques from proven approaches, including Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, Integral Theory, and Shadow Work. In addition to these techniques, John has developed innovative practices including The Pattern ©, The Leadership Values Development Experience © and The 5 Mindful Practices ©.
What Topics Are Covered?
The key skills of Mindful Leadership include:
- Defusion – the ability to ‘let go’ of unhelpful thoughts and patterns
- Acceptance of self, others and circumstances – rather than fighting and struggling
- Being in the present moment – rather than scattered and unfocussed
- Acting from values – creating a meaningful and satisfying approach to leadership
- Self awareness – seeing self as context rather than content
- Taking committed action – based on personal values that facilitate meaningful change
